I haven’t tried it, I find it to be a bit extraneous. Anyways, how hard would it be to have an ‘aside’ on your blog that updates people on what your status is? Plus it would get RSS, and load faster because you’d be the only one using it.

I am sure that many will find it as a playful item but I really do not have that much interest to read how someone just woke up. My wife does not need technology to tell her when I wake up, I quit snoring.

I think it has real potential when used to cover events – real time posting of things happening, like at SXSW. I think it can also be useful in alerting people to new projects, like a mini-bulletin board, or asking for help on something you’re suddenly stuck on.

But I have no real use for it otherwise. On days when I do actually remember to log in, most of the Twitters I get are “I’m drunk,” “I’m on the way to the airport” and such. If I wanted to keep that good a track on people, I’d install a GPS in them.

I view it as a more immediate social network than a useful tool for my life.

I still think that it deserves some credit. after all, they’ve gotten popular very quickly. it gets annoying when a person you’re following starts to twit every 5 seconds.

I found Twitter useful while I was at SxSW. It was a good mechanism for keeping up with the current hot spot among the people I knew there. Outside of that atmosphere I’m finding little use for it.

It’s like a mini-blog for people who don’t blog.. It’s okay, but I’m not sure how well it will take off. I joined because I chose procrastination over my essay, and because the ‘widget’ is quite cool; but I don’t think anyone else I know will use it. They’re far too busy updating their facebook status (same effect) and perusing through peoples profiles on the social-espionage flex. There’s not enough to it, too basic imo.

Yea I have heard of twitter, just like you I haven’t really tried it. It takes a long time to load. Twitter doesn’t work with RSS however just this week I heard of something called jaiku.com just twitter but works with RSS

Sorry I missed SXSW .. Maybe next year

So slow, that it is hard to use. If it’s gonna be so slow, it will stop the hype and not gonna work.
